TCA UGADI VEDUKALU 2013 WAS A GRAND  SUCCESS

Ugadi Vedukalu 2013 organized by Telugu Cultural Association on April 13that Sri Meenakshi temple was a grand success as it established an all-time record with more than 1300 attending guests. The event not only attracted a large number of attendees, but also contained quality programs leaving guests spell bound. 

 The grand event was opened by TCA president Ramesh Akarapu with Deepa Prajwalanam and the introduction of the new Executive Committee, consisting of General Secretary Maruthi Reddy, Treasurer Durga Prasad Seloj, Cultural Secretaries Raj Pasala and Jyothi Pakeru, Web and Communications Secretary Raj Rentala, and Literary Coordinator Pallavi Chilappagiri.  A variety cultural programs followed thereafter for almost nine hours presented by 210 participants of all age groups . After the festive dinner, musical night by SWARA MADHURI and Local artists continued through midnight.

 Consul General Sri Harish, ICC President Sri PV Patel, and many past TCA presidents presided along with the TCA Executive Committee for launching the New TCA Logo and banner to mark the successful completion of TCA’s 37th year anniversary.   Ramesh Akarapu presented the renewed vision of TCA and guiding values as part of the Logo Launch, which are Telugu Basha (Literature), Culture (Samskruthi) and Community Service (Samaja Seva). Ramesh Akarapu presented   honorary life membership to Sri Harish and his family as part of the event.

 CG Sri Harish presented TCA Ugadi awards to Dr. Murali for Literature, Vedantam Raghava for Culture and Dr. Indira Mutyala for Community service in recognition for years of their outstanding service, contributions to the community and aligning with TCA’s renewed vision.  Also, CG Harish applauded the TCA executive committee in bringing all TELUGU organizations under one umbrella for celebrating UGADI as well as requesting to carry out the felicitation of eminent Telugu personnel as a practice every year.

TANA 19th National Convention Leadership Team who attended this year’s UGADI Vedukalu also took the opportunity in inviting all of the Houston Telugu community to attend their national convention during May 24th-26th in Dallas.

 TCA President Ramesh Akarapu while presenting the mementoes thanked TANA, NATA, ATA, New York Life, Mayuri Indian Restaurant and Sri Meenakshi temple society in sponsoring this year UGADI event. He thanked the TCA Executive Committee members and more than 50 volunteers for their hard work and excellent support in making this event memorable to the Houston Telugu community. He also made a special recognition of all the media partners (TV9, TV5, Voice of Asia, Indo American news, Indian Herald, Andhra Jyothi, Eenadu, Teluguone.com, Telugupeople.com,simplytelangana.com,greatandhra.com) that helped in bringing this TCA Ugadi event to the Houston Telugu community.

Ramesh Akarapu has been elected as President for Houston Telugu Cultural Association (TCA) for the year 2013-2014. The newly elected Executive committee consists of General Secretary Maruthi Reddy, Treasurer Durga Prasad Seloj, Cultural Secretaries Raj Pasala and Jyothi Pakeru, Web and Communications Secretary Raj Rentala, and Literary Coordinator Pallavi Chilappagiri. TCA elections were held after many years part of TCA Sankranthi celebrations at Meenakshi temple and huge number of voters participated in making it successful.

The new TCA Executive Committee meeting hosted by Dr Venkat Veerisetty took place at Mayuri restaurant on Feb 23rd 2013 attended by all Trustees, Incoming & Outgoing EC members along with many of the Past presidents and Trustees.

Ramesh Akarapu first thanked the election committee members Rahul Reddy, Karunakar Chowdavarapu and Ravi Atluri for organizing this year’s election process very smoothly and effectively. After introducing his new executive team to the meeting attendees, Ramesh Akarapu thanked several of the past presidents, Trustees and community leaders in making TCA a very successful organization for the last 37 years. He stated TCA is always and will be in the forefront of any event happening in Greater Houston relating to Telugu Literature, cultural and social.

Ramesh Akarapu applauded the great work done by Telugu Badi team in the last few years and expressed his commitment to further expand this initiative in reaching every Telugu family in Houston. He also emphasized the need to further broaden TCA cultural and social programs for attracting all generations and improve program quality at the same time.

He promised to reach out to our community leaders, well wishers and take their feedback in developing new initiatives and programs that are unique to TCA and make this year a very successful year in the TCA history.

Part of closing comments, Ramesh Akarapu informed TCA will be celebrating this Telugu New Year – UGADI Festival (Viajaya Nama) on April 13th at Meenakshi temple. He requested all of our Telugu community members to participate in large numbers and make it very successful.

During the meeting, NATA leadership team presented a check for $10000 dollars to trustees in support of TCA and their contributions to Houston Telugu community.
